What size TV — and how high to mount it?
Measure from where you sit to where the TV will go, and we’ll give you the size range that fills the view without giving anyone a stiff neck — plus the exact height for the mount.
Your wall, to scale
Want it on the wall this week — wires hidden?
We mount TVs all over the Outer Banks: any wall, cables concealed, soundbars hung, and the picture calibrated before we leave.

The distance rule, in plain English
For 4K TVs, a screen that measures roughly half your viewing distance feels right for most people — sit 10 feet away and a 60–75″ TV fills the view comfortably. Sitting closer than 1.2× the screen size starts to feel like the front row at the movies.
Why “too high” is the #1 mounting mistake
Above the fireplace looks great in photos and hurts necks in practice. The center of the screen belongs at seated eye level — about 42″ from the floor for a normal couch. If the fireplace forces the TV higher, a pull-down or tilting mount fixes the angle.
Salt air and outdoor TVs
On the Outer Banks, a regular TV on a porch lasts a season or two before the salt gets it. Covered porches want at least a weather-resistant model in a sealed enclosure; open decks need a true outdoor TV (SunBrite-class). Worth asking before buying twice.
