Printer says offline — the checklist
- Power cycle the printer — off, unplugged 30 seconds, on, wait until idle.
- Check its WiFi light: steady = connected; blinking = it lost the network and needs the Wireless Setup Wizard.
- Same network as your computer/phone (not the guest network).
- Clear the queue and re-add the printer in Mac System Settings → Printers, or Windows Settings → Printers & scanners.
Reconnect a printer after changing your router
Printers memorize one WiFi network. On the printer’s control panel: Settings → Network → Wireless Setup Wizard, pick the new network, enter the password exactly. No screen? Press the router’s WPS button, then hold the printer’s WiFi button within 2 minutes. Pro tip: give a new router the same network name and password as the old one and everything reconnects itself.
