OBXtec designs and installs UniFi networks in Virginia Beach, Chesapeake and Norfolk: wired PoE access points, clean racks, cameras on the same backbone, and a controller set up by someone who does this weekly — not a first-timer following YouTube. Large homes, small businesses, and rental properties that need WiFi to be infrastructure, not a gadget. Flat-quoted project work, travel included. Call or text (252) 686-1451.

When UniFi is the right answer

  • Big or difficult properties — 3,000+ square feet, brick, multiple floors, detached garages: places one router was never going to cover and consumer mesh covers badly.
  • Businesses — isolated guest WiFi, PoE cameras, and gear that separates the point-of-sale from the public network. Project work, not a monthly contract.
  • Rental properties — remote visibility and guest isolation across one home or a portfolio; the platform behind our Sandbridge rental WiFi installs.
  • People who bought the gear already — we finish and fix half-done UniFi projects without shaming anyone about it.

What separates a professional UniFi build

Wired backhaul to every access point — that is the whole game, and it is why UniFi installs lean on our Cat6 wiring service. Then: access points placed by measurement rather than symmetry, a rack or structured panel where every cable is labeled, networks segmented so guests, cameras and smart devices live apart, and documentation that makes the system maintainable by whoever comes after us. That last part is rarer than it should be.

Frequently asked questions

Why UniFi instead of a consumer mesh kit?

Consumer mesh is fine for many homes — and where it is, we will say so. UniFi earns its higher cost when the property is large or dense: wired PoE access points that never hop wirelessly, one controller managing everything, real guest network controls, and gear that a rack and a labeled switch keep serviceable for a decade. Big homes, offices, shops and rental properties are where it pays off.

What does a UniFi installation include?

Design first: how many access points, where, and what wiring they need. Then the build: PoE switch and gateway in a clean rack or panel, Cat6 to each access point, cameras if wanted on the same wiring, and the controller configured with sensible networks — main, guest, and devices separated properly. You get documentation and remote support after.

Can you take over a half-finished UniFi setup?

Yes, this is common — gear bought enthusiastically, installed partially, WiFi somehow worse than before. We audit what you own, keep everything usable, finish the wiring and configuration, and hand you a system that finally behaves like the reviews promised.

Do you install UniFi for businesses?

Yes — offices, retail and restaurants across Virginia Beach, Chesapeake and Norfolk, as flat-quoted project work: guest WiFi that is isolated from the register, cameras on PoE, and a network the next IT person can actually understand because it is labeled and documented.

Is Ubiquiti hardware included in the quote?

Your choice: we can spec and supply the hardware in the flat quote, or install gear you have already bought. Either way you see the line items before anything is ordered.
