OBXtec builds and fixes small-business networks in Chesapeake, Virginia Beach and Norfolk as flat-quoted project work — office WiFi that covers the whole floor, wired drops, isolated guest networks, clean racks — with no monthly contract attached. If you have been told you need a managed-services agreement just to get your conference room online, this page is the alternative. Call or text (252) 686-1451.
The jobs we do for businesses
- New location build-outs — moving into a Greenbrier office suite or a storefront: wiring, WiFi, router and rack, ready for opening day.
- Office WiFi that holds up — access points with wired backhaul, sized for every desk, phone and tablet on at once.
- Guest WiFi done safely — customers get internet; your register, files and cameras stay walled off.
- Cabling cleanups — the closet of mystery wires becomes a labeled panel the next person can understand. See Cat6 wiring.
- Cameras on the same backbone — PoE cameras added during the network build, owned outright. See camera costs.
Why project work instead of a contract
Most shops, restaurants and small offices do not need a standing IT department — they need the infrastructure built correctly once, documented, and a number to call when something genuinely breaks. That is what we sell. It is the same model we run for business clients on the Outer Banks, where a restaurant POS going down in July gets fixed fast precisely because we built the network under it.
Frequently asked questions
Do you require a monthly IT contract?
No — and that is the point of this page. This is project work: you have a network problem or a new space, we quote it flat, fix or build it, document it, and leave. If you later want remote help, it is available, but nothing here locks you into a retainer.
What does an office network installation include?
A walkthrough of the space, then: the internet handoff done properly, a business-grade router and switch in a tidy panel or rack, WiFi access points placed for the floor plan, wired drops to desks and the register, a guest network isolated from business systems, and one document that says what everything is and where it lives.
Can you separate guest WiFi from our point-of-sale?
Yes, and if you take cards you should treat it as mandatory. Customers and staff phones live on one network; the register, back office and cameras live on another that guests can never see. This is standard practice we build into every business install.
Our WiFi dies when the office is full. Fixable?
Almost always. One consumer router serving thirty devices through two walls is the usual culprit. Properly placed access points with wired backhaul carry a full office without drama — same physics as our residential work, sized for business density.
Which areas do you cover?
Chesapeake — Greenbrier and Western Branch especially — plus Virginia Beach and Norfolk, as scheduled service days from our Outer Banks base. Flat quotes with travel included, and remote diagnosis first whenever the problem allows it.
Part of our Virginia Beach, Chesapeake and Norfolk service area. Larger space or multiple APs? That is usually a UniFi build. Call (252) 686-1451 — describe the space and what is failing, and you will get a straight answer.
